PERSONAL STYLE | An Interview with Megha Varshini

meghafashionista.blogspot.com
Fourthmode interviews Indian fashion blogger Megha Varshini about her personal style and blog Stilettos Diary.

Like other fashionistas, she has found an outlet for her passion about fashion and clothes in blogging. The inspirations behind her "quirky, elegant, simple, yet fashionable" personal style are international and uniquely Indian. Alongside 2012 trends, she reuses vintage items in creative ways.

4M | What is fashion to you?
Megha | Fashion is a creative outlet for me. People express their creativity through painting, photography, I express through my outfits.
4M | How did you get started on fashion blogging?
Megha | I was completely obsessed about fashion, clothes, shoes, bags, belts, sunglasses. I converted my obsession into a blog. I have found my calling. I love blogging and my passion for fashion inspires me to keep blogging.
4M | What aspect of blogging is the most enjoyable?
Megha | I love meeting new people from different countries and learn about their different fashion styles.
4M | How would you describe your personal style?
Megha | I love to experiment with my looks since college days. I love scouting for vintage pieces. I feel fashion is an art and I like to reuse all the clothes in my closet to the fullest to create new looks. My clothes are a reflection of my personality – quirky, elegant, simple and yet fashionable.
4M | Who is you inspiration?
Megha | My fashion icon is Sarah Jessica Parker, I adore and worship her style. I try to emulate her style in my looks. Her role as Carrie Bradshaw redefined style and I bow down to her impeccable style. Soonam Kapoor, Indian actress has great sense of style.

4M | Who is your favourite designer or brand? What do you look for?
Megha | My favourite designers are Rocky S and Manish Arora. They are Indian designers. I like Manish Arora's futuristic approach to his clothes, the vivid Indian prints and bold colors.
4M | What is good advice?
Megha | My best fashion tip is LBD saves you time and again. It’s must in every girl’s wardrobe.
4M |  What Fashion Week is most exciting to you?
Megha |  Lakme India Fashion Week, Willis Lifestyle Fashion Week.
4M | Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
Megha | Well I would ask all those people reading this interview to check out my blog and follow it if they like my style. I would like to thank my friend Vignesh Ravichandran. His amazing photography style helps me reach out more people.

PERSONAL STYLE | An Interview with Rachel Wee

style-societe.com

Rachel Danielle Wee
One of our series of interviews with fascinating bloggers from around the world, Fourthmode talks with Singapore fashion blogger Rachel Danielle Wee about her personal style blog Style Societe.

Rachel says her own style can be "pretty much anything" though not "the sweet demure look".

Every inspiring outfit looks fantastic on Rachel as you can see. So we begin with one of her sweeter, more demure looks. Is she wrong about that, you think?

4M | What is fashion to you?
Rachel | Fashion is a lifestyle, a form of art, and a way of expressing who you are. It shouldn't be about what's in season, but more of what you feel comfortable in.

PERSONAL STYLE | An Interview with Luisa Calvo

modaxatodas.com

Fourthmode has recently interviewed the lovely engineer and Spanish fashion blogger Luisa Calvo about her personal style blog Moda para Todas.

Her distinctive style is casual + chic = bold + experimental

Luisa answers our questions in fluent and natural Spanish, her mother language. In our English translations, some of the charm and idiom have been lost.

4M | What is fashion to you?
Luisa | Fashion es un estilo de vida, una actitud, no importa si lo que llevas puesto es de Zara o de alta costura si no lo luces con orgullo no sirve de nada.

PERSONAL STYLE | An Interview with Kristiana Vasarina

kristianav.blogspot.com

Fourthmode had the recent pleasure of interviewing Kristiana Vasarina, an 18 year old Latvian fashion blogger, who currently lives in Luxembourg, about her personal style. She blogs about "the most random things" though she tries "to stay focused" on personal style. At any moment of the day, over a dozen readers around the world can be found reading her blog. We wanted to find out just why and our answer is simple - she has a spontaneous and natural personal style that seems unaffected and effortless and continually develops.

4M | What is fashion to you?
KV | Fashion is nothing. I am not interested in fashion itself, I do not read fashion magazines or look at the new collections, in fact, I don't know what's in fashion right now. I am more interested in personal style, because everyone has their own, and it's a great way to express yourself without talking.

PERSONAL STYLE | The Launching of WIWT.com

One of the newest outfit-sharing communities is WIWT.com, the brain-child of Poppy Dinsey and the software design team at Caffeinehit. The recent history of this project from concept to launch ...

Poppy's story of What I Wore Today:
On the 1st of January 2010 I started a daily photo blog on Posterous called What I Wore Today. It was simple enough, just a photo each day of whatever I happened to be wearing.
I completed the entire year without missing a post and ended up becoming Vodafone VIP’s official blogger for London Fashion Week and becoming an MSN Life & Style contributor.
I could have stopped at the end of 2010, I’d completed the New Year’s resolution, but I decided to carry on.
There are some exciting plans for this site later in the year, but I’m not going to say more than that now. I know, I know…fabulously uncool. I’VE GOT A SECRET NER NER NER NER. Etc.

We've known Poppy for a long time and spoken about how to take WIWT to the next level for what seemed like ages. So, at the start of 2011 we finally got round to getting stuck into the designing and developing the website and iPhone app.
iPhone app
This has to be one of the biggest projects we've worked on to date. Designing and building both the front and backend of what (is going to be) one of the biggest fashion based social networks around.

The official press release for the launch:
LONDON 12th September 2011: This week sees the launch of a new social network – WIWT (that’s web-speak for ‘What I Wore Today’). This new site, supported by a free iPhone app, will launch on Thursday the 15th of September 2011 – just in time for the start of London Fashion Week. WIWT will allow anyone to upload photos of their outfits and share them with the world. Users are encouraged to tag the garments they wear in their photos, then other users can click through from these tags to buy the garments from the relevant retailers.

The site has been founded by 24 year old fashion blogger Poppy Dinsey. Poppy started a daily outfit blog as a New Year’s Resolution on January 1st 2010 and 18 months later Poppy was still uploading a different outfit each day and the blog was getting 250,000 visitors per month: “I started the blog as a bit of a personal challenge to make me wear more of the clothes I already owned, but within a few weeks of my first post I was being sent pictures of other people’s outfits and they were asking to be featured on the site. It wouldn’t have made sense to have the odd guest post, but I quickly realised there was a demand for other people to be able to join in the fun.  The idea for the social network was born and now it’s finally ready to show the world.”

Poppy teamed up with Shoreditch design agency Caffeinehit to build the site and iPhone app ... [more]
The business model? Whilst the site and app are completely free to use, WIWT will make money though affiliate links, highly targeted display advertising, brand partnerships and site takeovers.

Poppy concludes: “The feedback from both our beta testers and the big British high street brands that we’ve been working closely with has been overwhelmingly positive. It seems that there is a gap in the market for a site like this - real people uploading real outfits. Everyone loves to people watch in the street but you don’t always have the confidence to ask strangers “where did you get that?” -  I really think that WIWT can change the way we shop online and look for style inspiration.”
The Big Launch as seen from whatpoppywore.com
This site is now just an archive, there will be no more updates here – ever!
Thank you so much for all the support, some of you have been around since the very first day and some of you have only just discovered the blog…but it’s been a blast.
The good news? The fun is only just getting started! I am now blogging my daily outfits here. And you can post your daily outfits too :)
Please support my new site! And please download the app.

4th mode | What is Viste la Calle?
This is a cool fashion blog from Santiago, Chile with more than a little of everything - street styles, look-at-me, runway fashions and independent designers. The site looks a little busy at first glance (and is in Spanish) but it is well maintained and all of the bells and whistles seem to work. If you have a store to advertise or a look to show off, click on the links "Tu Dato" or "Tu Look" and join the bruhaha.
